It’s rare to connect with other Disney podcasters far outside the tourist havens; many consistent shows work because the hosts have easy access to theme parks in Orlando or Anaheim. This gives them the opportunity to quickly visit the resorts and check out the latest offerings. There are definite exceptions, however, and one of them is Mike Rahlmann of the Be Our Guest Podcast. The fellow St. Louisan started his podcast way back in 2009 and is still going strong today.
Rahlmann joins the latest episode of The Tomorrow Society Podcast to discuss the origins of the Be Our Guest Podcast. Along with co-hosts Rikki Niblett and Pam Forrester, he connects directly with the audience through listener trip reports, questions, and other topics. Rahlmann and I discussed how to build a podcast community and what drives his show’s prolific output. With nearly 1,250 episodes released and three new episodes a week, Be Our Guest provides a lot of Disney content.
Our conversation also covers Rahlmann’s radio background that led him to podcasting, the draw of RunDisney, and helping first-time guests navigate Walt Disney World. It’s a challenge even for diehard fans to plan a trip given all the complexities with FastPass Plus, ADRs, and frequent changes. I also tested him with a series of rapid-fire questions about his favorite (and least favorite) aspects of the Disney World resort. It was great to connect with a fellow St. Louis podcaster and rave about the chances for Mizzou basketball and Cardinals baseball.
