It’s a hectic time for Disney’s theme parks, especially at Walt Disney World. I visited Orlando in early September, and we’ve had several major openings since that point. Epcot Forever started playing every night, and the Skyliner began operating. Both have had missteps, especially Disney’s new transportation system. Fans have big expectations for Rise of the Resistance, which will open at Galaxy’s Edge on December 5. It’s the perfect time to talk with Tim Grassey, who is a co-host on the Marty Called and E-Ticket Report podcasts.
Grassey is my guest on this episode of The Tomorrow Society Podcast, and we focused on what’s happening now at the parks. Tim has visited Galaxy’s Edge on both coasts, so he has plenty to say about that new land. We dive into all the main questions about that area, especially questions on Rise of the Resistance. This subject leads us into more praise for Pandora: The World of Avatar, which represents an effective way to incorporate a movie brand into the parks.
We also focus on EPCOT, which is receiving serious attention from Disney in the next few years. We learned more from Disney about their plans at the D23 Expo in August, so there’s a lot to cover. Does having three neighborhoods replace Future World make sense? What type of attraction themed to Mary Poppins will we ultimately see in World Showcase? We discuss these questions and a lot more in this episode. It was great to speak with Grassey once again and get his thoughts about the parks and where they’re heading. I’d love to hear your thoughts about these subjects, especially on Disney’s plans for EPCOT.
