One of the big unknowns for many Disney fans involves Walt’s original ideas for EPCOT the city. Commonly known as Progress City, this community of the future never happened after Walt died in 1966. EPCOT Center ultimately arrived as an incredible theme park, but it was quite different from the original concept. Could Walt’s EPCOT have actually worked? I want to live in this alternate universe, and the Prototype World of Tomorrow springs from that world. Created by Ben Lancaster, this audio series tells a fictional mystery set in Progress City.

Ben is my guest on this episode of The Tomorrow Society Podcast to talk about creating the Prototype World of Tomorrow. He talks about what it was like to produce the series, which is a complicated process. Ben also explains what interested him about having Progress City as the setting for the show. There are plenty of fun Disney references during the story.

I also talked to Ben about his film The Further Adventures of Walt’s Frozen Head, which is available to watch on YouTube. He shot this movie inside The Magic Kingdom, which was a challenge in the busy park. Ben also describes casting Ron Schneider to play the title character. We close the episode with some fun questions about Progress City and EPCOT. He tackles important topics like whether the Beach Boy or kid with the teddy bear had worse habits on Horizons. It’s a hard-hitting finish to the podcast.

Ben Lancaster directed The Further Adventures of Walt's Frozen Head.
