When Disney fans talk about our most recent theme park trips, the most common topic is probably Disney Genie Plus. The line-skipping service replaced FastPass Plus last fall and has drawn mixed reactions to say the least. While prepping for our March return to Walt Disney World, I studied everything that I could find with hopes of mastering this service. One of the best resources were the “Touring Plans Teaches” videos on YouTube on the Touring Plans channel. Host Becky Gandillon does an excellent job summarizing the best options for this new service.
Becky is my guest on this episode of the Tomorrow Society Podcast to talk about Disney Genie Plus strategies. She’s an expert on data analytics, so her advice comes from testing and the numbers. She also writes blog posts for Touring Plans and explains the top strategies for using that data. We start by explaining the basics, including the Individual Lightning Lanes for the most popular attractions. Becky also describes that latest changes to the service, including the removal of the option to purchase in advance. We also cover the impact of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure moving to Disney Genie Plus at EPCOT.
Disney Genie Plus works differently with each park, so we spend time on strategies for each Walt Disney World park. The best approach can vary especially in challenging situations like at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Becky also recently visited Disneyland, and the system works much better there. She explains how much easier it was to book reservations and navigate the resort. Finally, we talk about how she got started at Touring Plans and her favorite things to do at theme parks. I really enjoyed talking to Becky and learning a lot more about Disney Genie Plus.
