It’s a surprisingly busy time for Disney as we approach the end of 2022. Several weeks ago, they made the shocking decision to replace CEO Bob Chapek with former leader Bob Iger. This decision has raised questions about the next steps for Disney in every medium. I’m focused on the parks, and a perfect guest to dive into that subject is Carlye Wisel. She hosts the Very Amusing podcast and writes frequently about the industry. Carlye is a fan but has an insiders’ perspective as a journalist covering the parks.
Carlye returns to the Tomorrow Society Podcast for the third time to talk about the return of Bob Iger. There are still many unknowns about the parks’ future, but she describes her initial reactions to the news. We also dive into Carlye’s experiences at the D23 Expo in September and thoughts on the parks announcements from Josh D’Amaro. She hosted a panel on Duffy & Friends there and describes the experience of being in the room with so many excited fans.
We also talk about Carlye’s stay on the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser back in February. She recounts the immersive experience and whether it’s worth the price. After that, Carlye describes two major coasters opened by Universal and Disney recently. The VelociCoaster and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind have both received raves, and I get her take on each one. Finally, Carlye describes her excitement for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One, which arrives in July. I really enjoyed catching up with Carlye about the latest news and new attractions.
