I’ve visited Walt Disney World many times over the years, but I still feel like a novice in a lot of areas. Our most recent trip over MLK weekend included a rare stay at an on-site resort — The Animal Kingdom Lodge. We also used Disney’s Magical Express and chose bus transportation to and from the parks instead of renting a car. It was only a four-night trip, but I learned a lot more about how the resort functions. I’ve organized my experiences into a podcast episode with seven lessons that summarize our experiences on the four-night stay in a standard room at Jambo House.
The latest episode of The Tomorrow Society Podcast delves into my latest trip, which turned out really well. It is different than the typical episode and just includes my thoughts about the revelations. Instead of doing a straightforward trip report, I narrowed down the focus into the seven lessons. They include my new feelings on FastPass Plus and MagicBands, dealing with torrential rain storms at the Magic Kingdom, and our first meal at Be Our Guest. We packed quite a lot of attractions and other experiences into just three days at the parks.
These aren’t mind-blowing lessons but will definitely help on future Orlando vacations. Despite expectations of higher crowds during the holiday weekend, it was actually quite pleasant for the most part. There were a few bottlenecks at times, but it didn’t feel very different from a normal January weekend. I’d love to hear your thoughts about these seven lessons and what you’ve learned on recent visits to the parks.

Really enjoyed the podcast, listening to someone actually talk about their experience is far more interesting than reading the myriad of “Top 10 WDW tips” lists found on the internet.
It was nice to hear a positive take on Magical Express and the WDW bus system. People are so quick to gripe about the busses but I’m always amazed at how efficiently Disney moves so many people to multiple destinations around the resort.
I also enjoyed hearing about your experience at Animal Kingdon Lodge, we’re thinking about staying there on our next WDW trip. Wilderness Lodge has been our hotel of choice lately but I think it’s time to switch things up a bit.

Thanks Ron. I expect that you’ll find a lot of similarities between the Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge. I don’t have a huge point of reference with deluxe resorts as an adult, but we had a great time staying there. I’d strongly consider staying there again the next time we’re on property.
