I’ve closely studied theme parks by visiting in person, reading books, and talking with experts. That information still pares in comparison to working at Walt Disney World. That close perspective gives a different outlook on what it takes to operate the parks. It’s why I love speaking with guests that worked behind the scenes for Disney. A perfect example is Skipper Ben Rebstock — my guest on this episode of The Tomorrow Society Podcast.
Ben worked in Orlando through the Disney College Program on The Jungle Cruise and at Muppet Vision 3D. After college, his career at Radio Disney led him to being a regular contributor on the Inside the Magic podcast with Ricky Brigante. Ben has an interesting view on Disney as both a fan and a former employee inside the parks.
During this episode, Ben and I cover a wide range of subjects from his background and time at Disney including these:
- What was it like for Ben to participate in the Disney College Program?
- How did he end up working at Muppet Vision 3D in the Disney/MGM Studios?
- Has Ben recovered from the loss of the Great Movie Ride at that park?
- What should Disney do next at the Studios after Galaxy’s Edge opens this year?
- How did Ben get started at Inside the Magic with Ricky?
- Why did he decide to join the Marty Called podcast as a co-host?
- What can Disney do to revitalize Future World at Epcot?
It was great to talk with Ben and learn more about his experiences working at Disney World. We barely scratched the surface of his stories from behind the scenes.
