It’s been a different year for theme parks than anyone could have expected. Disneyland remains closed and will likely not open until sometime in 2021. Walt Disney World is open but facing restrictions on capacity. As Disney looks to the future, they won’t get too bold with changes beyond projects already in progress. What are some ways that Disney can enhance the parks without a gigantic investment? Tim Grassey joins me to discuss those smaller ideas.

Tim is my guest on this episode of The Tomorrow Society Podcast to dive into ways to upgrade the parks. There are lots of changes that Disney could make to Walt Disney World that wouldn’t cost much at all. Tim is a co-host on the Marty Called podcast and regularly talks with Skipper Ben Rebstock and Josh Fenton on armchair Imagineering during that show. This is Tim’s fifth appearance on this podcast, and it was great to discuss a bunch of cool ideas about the parks.

Tim and I placed restrictions on our choices so we wouldn’t just pick the obvious moves. Changing the final scene in the Carousel of Progress, fixing the Yeti, and upgrading the Spaceship Earth descent were too easy for our picks. This may it a more challenging exercise but also led to some great ideas. It’s not surprising that we spent a lot of time on EPCOT, which is still in the middle of major updates. At the end, I also tested Tim on his knowledge of quotes from Disney’s past leaders in a fun game.
