An Imagination update (with Dreamfinder!), a new Tomorrowland at Disneyland, fixing the Yeti. These three changes have been on my bucket list for a long time, possibly for the past decade. I thought maybe one would get announced at this weekend’s D23 Experiences showcase. But all three? That was a cool surprise! This news is just part of the reason I’m so jazzed about what Disney is planning for the future.
I’m back for a new episode of the Tomorrow Society Podcast! I didn’t plan to record a show about D23, but too much is happening! There’s also a new Spaceship Earth, Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris returning to its original theme, Season 2 for The Imagineering Story, and many exciting updates for upcoming lands and attractions. During this episode, I dive into everything that I enjoyed from the “Horizons: A Carousel of Progress” event on Saturday night. It’s a long list!
Beyond the specific announcements, I’m also loving the vibes from Walt Disney Imagineering since the return of Bruce Vaughn. He joined Caroline May to provide more details about the officially named Villains Land near the end of the show. Many Imagineers like Chris Beatty, Jason Grandt, Ali Rubinstein, and more took the stage to unveil the latest news. Everything seemed less polished and sometimes even awkward, but that made the presentation feel more authentic.
I also give my thoughts about host Neil Patrick Harris and how his presence changed the tone of the presentation. We’re a long way from Bob Chapek talking about a brand partnership with Target! NPH sung, danced, and seemed to have a great time leading the festivities. Sure, there were some strange detours, but even those kind of fit with the less serious vibes of the evening. I’d love to hear what you thought of the D23 Experiences showcase and Disney’s announcements! Even without all the info, I think we’re in store for a great big beautiful tomorrow in the next few years (and beyond)!
