It’s a fascinating time for Disney’s theme parks, especially Walt Disney World. They are seeing unprecedented attendance at The Magic Kingdom this fall and are prepping several major expansions. Can Disney keep up with the capacity demands of being the world’s most popular resort? For the latest episode of The Tomorrow Society Podcast, I spoke with Chad Emerson about what’s on the horizon for Disney.
We discussed the potential for Star Wars lands at all four parks, which would dramatically change the resort. The Hollywood Studios expansion is up first, but that could just be the beginning for the franchise in Orlando. We also discussed Universal’s growth and how they’re maximizing every square foot of property.
Chad is the author of Project Future: The Inside Story Behind the Creation of Disney World and editor of Four Decades of Magic: Celebrating the First Forty Years of Disney World. Disney has been raising prices, but there’s a risk of alienating longtime fans. Chad gives insights on what Disney is trying to accomplish with their latest moves.
